📘 Adjectives Rules & Uses
1. What is an Adjective?
An adjective describes a noun or pronoun. It tells us about quality, quantity, size, color, number, or opinion.
2. Types of Adjectives
- Descriptive: beautiful, tall, smart
- Quantitative: some, many, few, several
- Demonstrative: this, that, these, those
- Possessive: my, your, his, her
- Interrogative: which, what, whose
- Comparative: bigger, faster, taller
- Superlative: biggest, fastest, tallest
3. Degree of Adjectives
Adjectives have three degrees:
- Positive Degree: Shows quality. Example: tall → “He is tall.”
- Comparative Degree: Compares two nouns. Example: taller → “He is taller than his brother.”
- Superlative Degree: Compares more than two nouns. Example: tallest → “He is the tallest in the class.”
4. Examples
- Descriptive: The beautiful flower is red.
- Quantitative: I have some apples.
- Demonstrative: This pen is mine.
- Possessive: My book is on the table.
- Interrogative: Which color do you like?
- Comparative: My house is bigger than yours.
- Superlative: She is the tallest in the class.
