Class 10 Maths – Case Study Quiz (Set 2, CBSE)

Case Study 1: A company manufactures 500 units of a product. The cost per unit is Rs 120, and it sells each unit at Rs 150.
Q1. Total revenue earned by the company?
Answer: Rs 75,000
Revenue = SP × Quantity = 150 × 500 = Rs 75,000
Q2. Total cost incurred?
Answer: Rs 60,000
Cost = CP × Quantity = 120 × 500 = Rs 60,000
Q3. Profit earned?
Answer: Rs 15,000
Profit = Revenue – Cost = 75,000 – 60,000 = Rs 15,000
Q4. Profit percent?
Answer: 25%
Profit % = (Profit/Cost) × 100 = (15,000/60,000) × 100 = 25%
Case Study 2: A car travels 360 km in 6 hours. It halts for 30 minutes during the journey.
Q5. Average speed of the car excluding halts?
Answer: 60 km/h
Average speed = Total distance/Total time (excluding halt) = 360/6 = 60 km/h
Q6. Time to cover 450 km at same speed?
Answer: 7.5 h
Time = Distance/Speed = 450/60 = 7.5 h
Q7. Effective average speed including halt?
Answer: 57.14 km/h
Time including halt = 6+0.5=6.5 h; Avg speed = 360/6.5 ≈ 55.38 km/h (approx 57 km/h)
Q8. Distance covered in 2.5 h excluding halt?
Answer: 150 km
Distance = Speed × Time = 60 × 2.5 = 150 km
Case Study 3: A bag contains 4 red, 3 blue, and 3 green balls.
Q9. Probability of picking a blue ball?
Answer: 3/10
Probability = Favorable/Total = 3/10
Q10. Probability of picking red or green ball?
Answer: 7/10
Probability = (Red + Green)/Total = (4+3)/10 = 7/10
